What is an Irreplaceable?
Our Irreplaceables are teachers so successful in advancing student learning that we can't afford to lose them from our classrooms, or, from our district. Through a combination of skill, will, and devotion, Irreplaceable teachers move our children farther down the path of academic and personal achievement, and move them faster. In math and science, for example, our Irreplaceables are producing two or more years of student growth for every year of instruction.
As we strive to prepare all our children to be college or career ready, the Irreplaceables are leading the way.
Who are Our Irreplaceables?
The Irreplaceables represent a wide range of experience levels, grade and content areas, as well as teaching styles. What they have in common is a shared dedication to excellence. They are our most highly effective teachers, each having received exceptional performance scores on our TEM, Teacher Effectiveness Measure.
The Irreplaceables exemplify the professional excellence we strive to replicate across the district.

Did you know that the 2013 Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice is now accepting applications? The Fishman Prize is a $25,000 prize awarded annually to public school teachers who demonstrate exceptionally effective teaching with students from high-poverty communities. Offered by TNTP, a nonprofit organization working to ensure that all students get excellent teachers, the prize is given to up to five teachers each year. In addition to receiving $25,000, the winners engage in a six-week summer residency that culminates in the publication of a short paper on the practice of effective teaching. Applicants who submit by the early deadline of December 3, 2012 will learn whether they have been selected for the next round a month before other applicants. The final deadline is January 14, 2013.
